Governor Greg Abbott appointed Tammie Nielsen to the State Board of Education, District 4, for a term until December 31, 2026, or until her successor shall be duly elected and qualified.
Tammie Nielsen of Pasadena is the advancement director for Sarah’s House. Previously, she served as the communications and volunteer director for The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc. She is a member of the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region and its Women in Alliance Committee, president of the City of Pasadena Library Board, committee member for the Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo, and member and former board member of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, she is a former member of the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership and the Pasadena Education Foundation. Nielsen received an Associate of Applied Sciences from Houston Community College and a Leadership Institute for Nonprofit Executives Certificate from Rice University.
